At the mouth of Alaska's Chilkat River, Tlingit weavers created blankets of great beauty from soft mountain goat wool and cedar bark. The exceptional Chilkat blanket, which was initially developed by Tsimshian people of the same area, bears the weavers interpretation of the traditional "Diving Whale" pattern from one of the most important Chilkat blankets. This scarf is a reproduction o the original collection of the Canadian Museum of History.
