Carmen Goertzen

Carmen Goertzen was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in June of 1963. Carmen was educated on Massett, Haida Gwaii. Since the age of eleven, carving has been his main interest, after being taught to make tools by Robert Davidson, an internationally acclaimed Northwest Coast Native artist.  In 1987, Carmen began carving with emphasis on carving in gold, silver, and Argillite.

Carmen has maintained incredibly detailed pieces with his perfect cross hatching and has a style that is unique to him. He uses precious stones and abalone in his work that creates stunning and eye-catching pieces that are sought after worldwide.

Carmen resides in Old Masset on Haida Gwaii where he keeps busy with his jewellery carving.
